I was innocent
Until you wrapped your arms
Around my neck
And in the shadows
You taught me to love
Or was it to hate?
Never mind.
The ecstasy was too much.
Beneath our feet
A few rotten apples fell.
I did not notice them
Nor the cold clasp
Of your hands
Around my ribs
Your fingers tracing
Scars from the past.
In this world
We called paradise
I was led to believe
That the world is perfect
And that when love
Is thrown high up
It shall fall back in
The same place.
But just as I was
About to leap
Into the river of my fantasy
The blood streaming
From my back
Reminded me of truths,
That there is no
Such thing as paradise,
Or love falling
From the skies.
And so I swallowed away
My illusions
Tried to look away
From you
Attempting to hide the pain
As you dug your nails deeper.
Tomorrow
I shall eat the fallen apples
From this tree called home
Hoping that from my faults
A saving grace shall come
To the rescue.
